EXPLANATION NOTES:
As outlined in the Teaching Practices section of this website. Blooms Taxonomy is represented as a Cognitive model. The stages of learning across the top and the colour denoted to that area matches in accordance with SAMR. Multiple Intelligence is a theory by Gardner, applying the principal that learning occurs through 8 areas of intelligence these are highlighted in Green, I am using 7 out of the 8.
These activities link to Early Years Learning Frame work (EYLF) and Australian Curriculum (AC). I have allocated the AC links, however for the EYLF outcomes which apply to digital technologies head to the resource page, titled ‘EYLF OUTCOMES’ these EYLF outcomes contribute to one or more in the following ;
-
Outcome 1: children have a strong sense of identity,
-
Outcome 2: children are connected with and contribute to their world: using play to investigate, project and explore new ideas participate with others to solve problems and contribute to group outcomes
-
Outcome 3: children have a strong sense of wellbeing: Demonstrate spatial awareness and orient themselves, moving around and through their environments confidently and safely,
-
Outcome 4: children are confident and involved learners
-
Outcome 5: children are effective communicators; Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems work, Children use information and communication technologies to access information,

What is an iPad ?
iPad is a device created by Apple. ipads are handy digital resources with an array of possibilities that can make our life style or experience easier. If you would like to know more about their capabilities, the information on Lifewire by Nations, D (2017) called "All things the iPad can do"
What purpose does it serve in educating our students of today?
The potential to maximise learning opportunities across curriculum areas is astounding. this means, using the device to undertake an activity and simultaneously learning a subject at the same time.
In a report by ‘The Age’, Maslen discusses the successful use of iPad used in Universities across Australia. The students are given the iPad as a tool for learning. It had been identified that students were able to participate and engage more, communicate and participate in discussions with their professors and each other, rather than information being dictated to them. It outlined the diverse use in providing to meet personalised learning. Providing different avenues to learning for students (often in the same classroom). Students understood content; able to make sense of subject matter and scores improved significantly.
Value of iPad for education purposes:
-
Exploring, risk-taking and creating
-
innovative practices to create projects or complete task
-
Collaborating ideas
-
sharing knowledge and experience to teach others
-
currently at TDTP access to 1:1 technology in the main classroom (including teachers in PC or Mac labs)
-
develop problem solving or creative thinking
-
flexibility to use anywhere at anytime
-
Free educational Apps can be accessed
Please refer to the teaching practices under pedagogues for more information regarding there use and our policy on the use of students using their Personal Electronic Devices at school
Pedagogy / Teaching Practices in the class room?
This hands-on opportunity promotes engagement and confidence in a 1:1 student-directed environment. It becomes an authentic learning experiences enabling development or growth to occur with the studet;
-
Being accountable
-
Taking pride and responsibility
-
Mmaking learning connections
-
Blending learning by adapting digital programs to other subjects such as using pic college to create a poster for English subject
-
Learning is modified or individualised to suit abilities and skills
-
Confident users for future generations in work place
Parent Feedback
-
Parents have commented that their child is sharing their experiences of what they have done at school with their parents.
-
Parents are engaged with a new learning experience that they are also learning themselves
-
It gives them quality time to spend with their child
-
Students at home are very pleased to share their achievements and learning with their families.
-
Some parents reported that the child when asked to do an activity together are positive and want to do home work
Implications:
-
For some families the cost of affording a personal electronic device is not accessible to them, this means sharing one from the school
Feed back from our Learning support staff
-
The flexibility of being able to take it outside or inside is extremely helpful and useful. it means if a student is unable to work inside or with the group right now they are able to continue in their own pace.
-
Students are receiving intrinsic rewards
-
Behaviour and learning through the use of iPads has helped develop social and language skills for students .

Dr Kaufman said to be considered educational, apps must encourage: active, engaged, meaningful and socially interactive learning ( Kivivali., 2015).
